Oregon Zoo Director, Kim Smith has cared for elephants and many other endangered species throughout her 25-year zoo career. Kim notes that Calley’s life-changing experience of seeing Rama paint is a prime example of how people become inspired and take positive action after experiencing animals in accredited zoos. Zoos such as the Oregon Zoo play a significant role in our communities and our world, creating a better future for wildlife. They keep people in touch with the natural world. The profound connection between people and animals, and between nature and art is life changing.
Committed to innovative animal care and global species conservation, outreach and education, Kim says she and her team feel privileged and honored to care for endangered elephants and many other species at the Oregon Zoo, where they inspire people to care about these magnificent animals, and to take action to keep them and all wildlife in the world’s future.
